In an earlier Diablo 2 Resurrected Livestream (opens in new tab) Game director Joe Shely, along with associate game director Joesph Piepiora and the community's manager Adam Fletcher gave fans an update on all things Diablo 2 Resurrected, as well as revealing the way things are going to work in the D2R Items lead up to the game's release this summer.
During the live stream, they discussed what they thought of the Diablo 2 Resurrected battle pass (around the 39:15 mark in the video below) as well as the game's future seasons. "It's essential for us to be able to balance the things that you'd find on the battlefield pass," Piepiora said, "the way that they're powerful, yet fair and equitable, we don't want to have any situations where players can feel that they have to pay. "To make a clear distinction between the battle pass and Diablo 2 Resurrected's seasons Piepiora explained that "the season's adventure is the same in Diablo 2 Resurrected, in the way that you found it within Diablo 3." The chapter-based mechanic offers players different objectives as they progress through the season and let players earn rewards in the game that will be rewarded to the character they choose. "All of the seasonal content is absolutely free. It's not attached to the battle pass itself," Shely adds.
In an effort to help clarify any confusion Shely explained that in the event that Diablo 2 Resurrected launches on June 6, 2023, the game will not be launched immediately following season one. "Season one will launch several weeks after the release of the game. And once season one is launched everyone will start simultaneously, and everyone will be on the same game," the developer said. The competitive elements of Diablo 2 Resurrected (e.g.: leader boards) are likely to be featured in the next season for those who didn't purchase early access to the game won't need to worry about unfairness.
"Our major season updates are free. They're full of new progression mechanics and mechanics, as well as new monsters to battle, missions, challenges, as well as content for you to consume," Piepiora says "there's plenty to anticipate and all of that comes with costs included in the box of the game that you've already purchased."

Diablo 2 Resurrected's skill tree, where players assign skill points to acquire new skills and skills, horribly evil, gruesome with a blackened, gnarled, and blackened tree that had hellfire inside, and veins and blood spilling out the bottom. It was stunning. As I played through the beta game last weekend, I became disturbed to buy D2R Ladder Items and find out that the game's skill tree has been replaced by the sick-ass tree that it was in the past.
